SUMMER 2024

Thursday June 20th : ““THE BURIAL AT THEBES” - written by the Irish Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney and based on Sophocles’ Antigone. Presented by theatre students from Oakland University. Directed by Lynnae Lehfeldt.

Thursday July 4th: “MYTHOS” - A devised physical theatre performance inspired by the Greek myths and plays. Presented by Proboscis Theatre. Directed by Jeff Mills.

Thursday July 11th: “HYDRA DANCE DAYS” - Performers will include ballet and contemporary dance professionals from France, Norway and Athens - as well as budding dancers from Hydra. Directed by Michaela Meschke.

Thursday July 25th: “ECHOES” - A lively performance based on Aesop’s fables. Devised by Ignite Theatre. 12 young actors, with the support of the Arts Council of Malta, will travel to Hydra to present their show. Directed by Michael Richardson

Thursday August 1st: CAPTAIN LASKARINA.”- The world premiere of a play about the life of the renowned Hydriot heroine ‘Bouboulina’. Written by Mihalis Darnakis and Maria Laftsidou. Featuring the director and actor Anastasia Revi in the title role;

Thursday August 8th: “OEDIPUS” – Sophocles play, (and more), with a multi-national cast of actors from countries including India, Holland, Italy, Ireland, England, Canada and the USA. Directed by Kostas Gakis

 Entrance to all the performances is free.

We do not accept reservations or issue tickets – so please arrive earlier than the boat if you want a good seat. The boat leaves Hydra town clock tower at 9.00 for Hydrama and performances start at 9.15 or as soon as the boat arrivals are seated.
